Daniel Webster, Sr.

Daniel is the founder and CEO of the Webster Casket and Funeral Supply Company and co-owner of the Webster-Progressive Funeral Home. He is a licensed funeral director for the state of Alabama and holds a national funeral director's license as well.

Daniel is a native Montgomerian who received his BA degree in Business Administration form Columbia College, Columbia, MO. After twenty years of service in the United States Air Force, he retired to found the casket and funeral supply business, which also manufactures hearse drapes and burial garments that he distributes to funeral homes nationally from his Shorter, Alabama location.

In 1993, with a flourishing casket sales business to funeral homes in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi, Daniel and Sarah, with their two sons, decided to open a funeral home. Since, by Alabama law, the wholesale casket distributorship was prohibited from selling merchandise directly to the public, this was their only means of realizing the dream of providing low-cost, high-quality funerals and merchandise to families in their greatest time of need.

So, on May 17th of that year, the Alabama Board of Funeral Service approved the Webster-Progressive Funeral Home as a full-service funeral home. Sarah assumed the responsibility of managing the funeral home with son, Gregory, serving as Managing Funeral Director. Daniel, with Daniel, Jr., assumed management of the Webster Casket and Funeral Supply Company. Thus began the long tradition of offering high quality merchandise and superior service while keeping costs down to a level that families could afford.
